Statement: U.S. House passes major public lands bill

The U.S. House of Representatives voted Wednesday to pass the Great American Outdoors Act, a bill to permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) at $900 million annually and provide $9.5 billion over five years to fix maintenance problems that are plaguing America’s public lands. With a final vote of 310 to 107, the bill garnered considerable bipartisan support, and now heads to the President’s desk.

Statement: Decision to rollback NEPA is misguided and dangerous

WASHINGTON -- Despite the critically important role the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has played in protecting the environment, the Trump Administration today rolled back the key regulatory policy. As a result, certain construction projects that are not substantially funded by the government will no longer require federal environmental reviews. This will endanger wildlife and cause an increase in carbon dioxide emissions.
