As director of Environment New Mexico, Sanders has led successful campaigns to commit Albuquerque to 25 percent solar energy by 2025 and to establish the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. Prior to assuming her current role, Sanders worked with Fund for the Public Interest, Mothers & Others for Clean Air, and Georgia Conservancy. Her areas of expertise include renewable energy in New Mexico, global warming, grassroots organizing and coalition building. Sanders lives with her husband in Albuquerque, N.M., where she enjoys rock-climbing, yoga and traveling.
